Your stool is a plant stand. Your side table is a plant stand.
We didn’t design a "plant stand" — we designed stools and side tables that people keep using for their plants, because the height, surface, and solid wood construction happen to be exactly right. The No Tool Stool at 18″ is the perfect pedestal for a fiddle leaf fig. The Mini Side Table tucks a trailing pothos into any corner.
Every piece is made from 13-ply Baltic birch plywood in our San Diego workshop. Leave the wood raw, seal it with polyurethane, or stain it to match your space. Tool-free assembly means you’ll set it up in about two minutes and move it whenever you rearrange.
Slot-together design. No tools, no hardware. Set it up in two minutes and move it whenever you want.
Made in San Diego and shipped fast. Your plant doesn’t have to sit on the floor for weeks.
13-ply Baltic birch plywood. No particle board, no veneer. Handles heavy pots without flexing.
Stain it, paint it, or leave it raw. Match your plant stand to your room, not the other way around.
Where People Put Their Plant Stands
Six ways to use an UNFNSHED stool or side table as an indoor plant stand — from the living room to the patio.
A No Tool Stool next to the sofa turns a floor plant into an eye-level statement. The 18″ height puts a fiddle leaf fig or snake plant right where it catches the light.
Skip the traditional nightstand. A Side Table holds a trailing pothos and a book stack — less clutter, more life next to the bed.
An A-Stool by the front door with a statement monstera or ZZ plant. It’s the first thing people see when they walk in — make it count.
Plants reduce stress and improve focus. A No Tool Stool next to your desk holds a peace lily or rubber plant right in your peripheral vision.
The Toddler Stool at 10″ tall is the right size for a bathroom shelf or windowsill extension. Seal it with polyurethane and the steam won’t bother it.
A Mini Side Table on a covered porch holds a potted herb garden or trailing ivy. Seal the wood with an exterior poly and it’ll handle the weather.
Plant Stand FAQs
What can I use as a plant stand?
Anything sturdy and the right height. Stools and side tables are the most common household items people repurpose as plant stands — and honestly, they work better than most products marketed as "plant stands" because they’re built to hold human weight, not just a pot.
The No Tool Stool (18″ tall) and A-Stool (18″ tall) are ideal for medium and large floor plants. The Mini Side Table (22″ tall) works as a tall plant stand for trailing plants like pothos or string of pearls. And the Toddler Stool (10″ tall) is perfect for smaller pots you want to raise just a bit off the ground.
What is the best height for an indoor plant stand?
It depends on the plant and where you’re putting it. Most indoor plant stands fall between 10″ and 24″ tall. A good rule: the taller the plant, the shorter the stand. A 4-foot fiddle leaf fig looks great on an 18″ No Tool Stool. A small trailing plant like a pothos does better on a taller surface like the 22″ Mini Side Table so the vines have room to hang.
For tabletop or windowsill plants, the Toddler Stool at 10″ gives just enough lift to catch more light without dominating the room. The Side Table at 22″ is the tallest option and works well for creating height variation in a plant grouping.
Are wooden plant stands good for indoor plants?
Yes — wood is one of the best materials for an indoor plant stand. It’s strong enough to hold heavy ceramic pots, it looks good in any room, and it won’t scratch your floors the way metal stands can.
The one thing to keep in mind: water. If you tend to overwater (no judgment), seal the wood with a coat of polyurethane to protect it from moisture rings. All UNFNSHED pieces ship unfinished, so you can apply any finish you want. A quick coat of water-based poly takes 30 minutes and makes the surface fully water-resistant.
Our pieces are made from 13-ply Baltic birch plywood — the same material used in cabinetry and boat building. It doesn’t warp, swell, or crack the way solid wood or MDF can over time.
