Record Player Stands & Vinyl Storage

Record player stands and vinyl storage built from real plywood

You don't need a dedicated turntable stand to give your setup the space it deserves. A Modern Shelf holds a turntable on top and vinyl records below. A Nightstand puts your player at the perfect height next to a listening chair. The Record/Book Holder displays your current rotation where you can flip through it.

Every piece here is made from 13-ply Baltic birch plywood, the same material used in speaker cabinets and studio furniture. It's dense enough to dampen vibration from your turntable and strong enough to hold a full record collection without bowing. All pieces assemble without tools in under two minutes and ship unfinished so you can stain, paint, or leave the birch grain exposed.

Why these stands
Vibration Dampening

Dense 13-ply Baltic birch absorbs turntable vibration better than hollow particle board or thin bamboo.

Ships in 3-5 Days

In stock and ready to ship from San Diego. No eight-week backorder waits.

Holds a Real Collection

Each shelf tier holds 30+ pounds. That's 50-60 records per shelf, plus the turntable on top.

Finish It Your Way

Raw Baltic birch matches any setup. Stain it dark walnut, paint it matte black, or let the natural grain show.

Record Player Stand Setups

Six ways to build a turntable station and vinyl storage with real plywood furniture.

Three-tier Modern Shelf used as a record player stand
The Classic Setup

A 3-tier Modern Shelf is the most popular record player stand in our lineup. Turntable goes on top, records stand upright on the middle and bottom shelves. Each tier holds 50-60 records. The open back lets you route cables cleanly and gives the turntable ventilation. No doors to open, no drawers to dig through. Just flip and play.

Modular Shelf expanding to hold a growing record collection
The Growing Collection

Start with a 2-tier Modular Shelf and expand with additional tiers as your vinyl collection grows. Most collectors underestimate how fast they accumulate records. The modular design means you're never locked into a size that's too small six months from now. Each new tier adds room for another 50-60 LPs.

Nightstand used as a bedside record player table
Bedroom Listening

The Modern Nightstand is the right height to sit next to a bed or a listening chair. The open shelf below holds 20-30 records in your current rotation. Put the turntable on top with a small speaker on each side. It's a bedside record player table that doubles as actual bedroom furniture when you're not listening.

Records displayed in a Record Book Holder
Display Rotation

The Record/Book Holder puts album covers face-out so they're part of the room, not hidden on a shelf spine-first. Use it to display your current rotation, new arrivals, or the records you want guests to notice. Set it on a shelf, a desk, or a console table. It holds about 15 records at a flip-friendly angle.

Large shelf setup as a full vinyl record storage system
The Full Station

For serious collectors: a 4 or 5-tier Modern Shelf holds 200-300 records with the turntable on top. Add a Record/Book Holder on a Nightstand nearby for the "now playing" pick. The birch grain ties everything together since every piece is made from the same Baltic birch plywood.

Record Player Stand Questions, Answered

What's the best record player stand for a turntable?

It depends on your collection size. For under 100 records, the Nightstand or a 2-tier Modular Shelf gives you turntable space on top and storage below. For 100-200 records, a 3-tier Modern Shelf is the sweet spot. For 200+, go with a 4 or 5-tier setup. All are made from dense Baltic birch plywood that absorbs micro-vibrations better than hollow-core or particle board stands. Read our living room setup guide for sizing details.

How do you store vinyl records properly?

Vinyl records should stand upright, never stacked flat. Stacking causes warping from the weight. Our shelves are deep enough to hold standard 12-inch LPs upright with the spines facing out. Keep records away from direct sunlight and heat sources. If you want covers visible, the Record/Book Holder angles records face-out for browsing. For bulk storage, the Modular Shelf gives you the most capacity per square foot of floor space. See our vinyl storage ideas post for more options.

Does plywood furniture cause turntable vibration issues?

The opposite. Dense plywood is one of the best materials for turntable furniture. Our 13-ply Baltic birch is heavier and more rigid than the MDF or particle board used in most budget stands. That density means less resonance and less vibration transfer to the stylus. Audiophile forums consistently recommend solid plywood or hardwood over hollow-core furniture for turntable setups. If you want even more isolation, place the turntable on a cork or rubber mat on top of the shelf.
