The Modular Shelf lets you see your collection while keeping everything in arm’s reach. The Modern Shelf’s tiers hold 100+ records below the turntable. The Nightstand works as a bedside turntable stand. The Record / Book Holder keeps current rotation close.

Turntable Stand Questions, Answered

What is the best stand for a turntable?

The best turntable stand is sturdy, level, and at the right listening height. Open shelves beat enclosed cabinets because turntables need airflow around the receiver and amp — trapped heat shortens the life of your electronics.

You also want something heavy enough to absorb vibration. Lightweight IKEA furniture and wobbly metal racks transfer footsteps and bass directly to the stylus, which you hear as rumble. The Modular Shelf and Modern Shelf are 13-ply Baltic birch — dense enough to dampen vibration. For a bedside setup, the Nightstand works as a compact turntable stand.

How do you store records next to a turntable?

The simplest approach: shelves below the turntable hold your main collection standing upright, and a smaller holder next to the turntable holds what’s in rotation. That way you’re not pulling from the main shelf every time you want to flip a record.

The Modern Shelf tiers hold 100+ records below the turntable surface. The Modular Shelf gives you open compartments sized for LPs. The Record / Book Holder sits on the surface and keeps your current rotation upright and visible.

Does a turntable need a special stand?

No. A turntable doesn’t need a “special” stand — it needs a stable, level surface that doesn’t vibrate. That’s it. Most turntable-specific furniture is overpriced particleboard with a logo on it.

What actually matters: the material. Solid plywood is ideal because it’s dense and heavy enough to absorb vibration from footsteps and bass. MDF and particleboard are lighter and resonate more. Metal racks ring like a tuning fork. Our Modular Shelf, Modern Shelf, and Nightstand are all 13-ply Baltic birch — the right material for the job, not branded as “audio furniture” with a markup to match.
