How much weight can these bookshelves hold?
They're built from 13-ply premium-grade plywood — the same material used in cabinetry and workbenches — so they hold a full row of hardcovers or records without bowing. The freestanding Modern Shelf and Modular Shelf carry weight across the whole frame, and when the Wall Shelves are mounted into studs with the included hardware they hold 30+ pounds per shelf.
Do you have a small or narrow bookshelf for tight spaces?
Yes. The Wall Shelves and Wavy Wall Shelves are slim, low-profile options that mount on the wall or sit freestanding on a surface — ideal for hallways, apartments, and nooks where a full bookcase won't fit. Each product page lists exact dimensions so you can match the footprint to your space.
How do I finish an unfinished bookshelf?
Premium-grade plywood takes stain, paint, and clear coat beautifully. A coat of matte polyurethane brings out the grain for a natural Scandinavian look; chalk paint covers in one coat for color; dark walnut stain is our most popular finish. Easy peasy to put together. I was surprised at how well it stained. I used a quick dry oil based combination of 1 part light walnut and 2 parts dark walnut. Very happy with the table.

Lovely shelf and just was exactly what I wanted
These shelves are beautiful and exactly as expected. I am very happy with my purchase. The only thing to note is that the “hanger” in the back is pretty shallow and is not reinforced, just hollowed out of the plywood. I would not use those hangers for hardly any weight. Instead, I drilled new holes into the vertical pieces at the spot where a shelf inserts, then used long screws to attach these shelves to the wall with drywall anchors. If you don’t mind doing that bit yourself you’ll love these like I do!

Love my new desk. At first the legs would not seat right in the slots. I changed the legs to the opposite sides and they went right in place. Nice and level!
