Kids Furniture

Kids table and chairs, rockers, and stools they can make their own

Most kids furniture is either plastic that cracks after a year or solid wood that costs more than the adult version. We build ours from 13-ply Baltic birch plywood: strong enough for daily use, light enough for kids to move on their own, and unfinished so they can paint it, stain it, or cover it in stickers. It becomes theirs in a way that pre-finished furniture never does.

The Kids Table and Chairs set is sized for ages 2-8 and assembles without tools in under two minutes. The Mini Rocker is a kids rocking chair scaled down from our adult lounge chair. The Toddler Stool works as a step stool, a seat, or a tiny table. Every piece ships flat, clicks together by hand, and arrives in 3-5 days.

Kids Furniture for Every Room

Six ways families use our kids furniture beyond the obvious.

Kids table and chairs used for art projects
Playroom

The Kids Table and Chairs set is the anchor of a kids playroom. Sized for ages 2-8 with a table height that works for drawing, building, snacking, and puzzles. The chairs tuck under when not in use. Add a Wall Shelf at kid height for a Montessori-style book display and you've got a full activity zone in under 20 square feet. See our playroom setup guide.

Mini Rocker kids rocking chair in a reading corner
Reading Nook

The Mini Rocker is a kids rocking chair that fits in a corner with a lamp and a few books. The gentle rocking motion keeps fidgety readers seated longer. The birch plywood frame is light enough for a 3-year-old to drag to their favorite spot but strong enough to hold an adult sitting on the floor beside them.

Toddler stool at the bathroom sink
Bathroom Step Stool

The Toddler Stool is the right height for a toddler to reach the bathroom sink on their own. Brushing teeth, washing hands, helping with bath time. It's stable on tile floors and light enough for a 2-year-old to carry from room to room. When it's not in the bathroom, it works as a seat at the kids table or a step to reach a bookshelf.

Kids using furniture for art and crafts
Art Station

Unfinished kids furniture is an art project before it's even furniture. Hand your kids a set of acrylic paints and let them finish the Kids Table and Chairs themselves. Handprints, polka dots, their name in block letters. The raw Baltic birch takes paint without primer. When they outgrow the design, sand it down and start over. See our painting guide for tips on kid-safe finishes.

Kids rocking chair in a nursery
Nursery

Start with the Mini Rocker in the nursery for older siblings who want their own chair during story time. Add the Toddler Stool when they start standing. Then the Kids Table and Chairs when they're ready for activities. The pieces grow with your kid from nursery to bedroom to playroom. Read our nursery furniture guide.

Montessori-style kids room with wooden furniture
Montessori Room

Montessori-style rooms keep everything at child height so kids can access their own things independently. The Toddler Stool serves as a step to reach higher surfaces. The Kids Table becomes a work station for practical life activities. Mount Wall Shelves low on the wall for a front-facing book display. Read our Montessori furniture guide for the complete setup.

Kids Furniture Questions, Answered

What age range does the kids table and chairs fit?

The Kids Table and Chairs set is designed for ages 2 through 8. The table sits at a height that works for toddlers in diapers and first-graders doing homework. The chairs are proportioned so smaller kids can climb in and out on their own without tipping. By age 8 or 9, most kids transition to an adult-height desk. The Toddler Stool extends the useful range: younger toddlers can use it as a booster seat at the table, and older kids repurpose it as a step stool or plant stand.

Is unfinished wood safe for kids?

Yes. Our kids furniture ships as raw Baltic birch plywood with no chemical treatments, sealants, or coatings. There's nothing to off-gas and nothing that can flake or chip into a child's mouth. When you're ready to finish it, use a child-safe paint or stain. Water-based acrylic paints are non-toxic once dry. For a clear coat, water-based polyurethane is food-safe when cured. Read our guide to baby-safe wood finishes for specific product recommendations.

How sturdy is plywood kids furniture compared to solid wood?

Plywood is structurally stronger than solid wood of the same thickness because of its cross-laminated layers. Our 13-ply Baltic birch holds adult weight, so there's no risk of a kid breaking through a seat or tabletop. The Mini Rocker supports well over 100 pounds despite being light enough for a 3-year-old to carry. The interlocking joints stay tight through years of daily use without loosening the way screwed joints do in cheaper kids furniture.
