What are your products made from?
All of our products are made from sustainably sourced furniture-grade baltic birch, an incredibly strong and high quality plywood.
What kinds of finishes can I put on?
There's truly no limit. We've used paints of all types, stains of all types and various combinations. Let your imagination run wild!
What is a modular shelving system?
A modular shelving system is built from individual units that connect together — so you choose the height, width, and shape to fit your space, then reconfigure later when your needs change. Our Modular Shelf is a single-column system: stack two for a record holder or go three for a tv console. Go more if you need more!
Is this a modular bookcase or a bookshelf?
Both — a modular bookcase is just a bookshelf built from interchangeable parts. Ours works for books, plants, art, records, kitchen storage, or as a room divider. The 13-ply Baltic birch plywood holds heavy loads and won't sag like the particleboard in budget bookcases.
Can I add more modular shelves later?
Yes. The joinery is identical on every tier, so a shelf you buy today connects cleanly to a tier you order in two years. This is the main reason renters and small-space dwellers reach for modular shelving instead of a fixed bookshelf — it adapts to a new apartment, a new room, or a new collection.
What if I make a mistake. Can I redo it?
In most cases, yes! You can simply sand and put a new finish on or you can try and paint over.
How easy is it to assemble your products?
Assembly of all our products is meant to be incredibly easy and straight forward. In most cases they take just a minute.
What is your return policy?
We accept returns of up to 14 days on all unfinished products (meaning you've put no finish on it).

I was in search of more vinyl storage for our living room, and these were exactly what our space needed. The dimensions listed are accurate, and they were incredibly easy to put together. I used two coats of Rubio Monocoat 2C in Natural to get the finish I wanted.

I have two modular shelving units. A two shelf unit and a three shelf unit. I’ve hand painted both in oil-based French blue over a spray on primer coat. Each piece required four coats to get the desired coverage rubbing with 00 steel wool between each coat. Finally when assembled I sprayed with high gloss lacquer. The finish is really beautiful. One word of advice if you go this route you will need a rubber mallet and I noticed the three shelf unit cut out tolerances were a little tighter and one shelf cracked requiring gluing and clamping. However, the finish is superb and they look really good. I highly recommend this company and their products they are of the highest order and I will definitely order from them again.

Love these shelves! I used them as tables for an event and as bookshelves in my house when I’m not hosting. Super easy to put together & I love the raw finish. I added a layer of matte polyurethane and they’re super easy to clean and maintain.

Furniture Unfurnished are so kind!! I accidentally ordered two, and the owner was so helpful in helping me correct my mistake, which I only realized VERY late. My bookshelves arrived, and they are very stylish. I am probably going to finish it myself to match my things better, but I am super pleased with it, and it cost so much less than similar products that are nowhere near as stylish.
