Solid Wood Stools

Modern wooden stools that actually get used

Agood wooden stool is the most useful thing you can put in a room. It’s a seat when you need one more, a step when the top shelf is out of reach, a counter-side perch, and a stand for a plant or a stack of books the rest of the time. Ours come in three shapes — the sculptural A-Stool, the hardware-free No Tool Stool, and the kid-sized Toddler Stool.

Wood Stool Questions, Answered

Are wooden stools strong enough to sit on every day?

Yes — the difference is what’s inside. Cheap stools use hollow particle board that chips and loosens at the joints over time. Ours are 13-ply premium-grade plywood, solid all the way through.

The No Tool Stool holds full adult weight with no hardware at all, and the A-Stool’s angled A-frame legs keep it steady even on an uneven floor. These are built for daily use, not just the occasional sit.

What can you use a small wooden stool for?

More than you’d expect. A small wooden stool works as extra seating when guests show up, a step up to reach a high shelf, a perch at the kitchen counter, and a plant stand or side table when nobody’s sitting on it.

The A-Stool is the multitasker here — seat, side table, and plant stand in one shape — while the Toddler Stool gives kids a safe boost at the sink.

Do these wooden stools come finished?

They ship unfinished, on purpose. Raw birch has a clean, modern look plenty of people leave exactly as-is. If you’d rather match a specific space, the bare wood takes stain and paint beautifully — our beginner’s staining guide walks through it.

Either way, there’s nothing to wrestle with: every stool slots together tool-free in about two minutes.
